Welcome to my entomologists!

I am excited to continue our study of insects and discover new and amazing species with you. Each week I will be posting a video lesson that will follow our syllabus and cover that week's topic. Be sure to have your green or blue folder with you as you watch the lesson. You will need your homework folder too. We have so much to do, I can't wait to get started!

Week #1: March 24 - 27

Summary and Instructions

This week we will continue working on our informational paragraphs about the insect you chose. Be sure to have the graphic organizer we began in class and your green or blue folder with you before you watch the video. You will also need your flip the flap book!

Homework

Read your flip the flap book to someone at home, complete the vocabulary match page in your yellow folder, and if you want to, you can watch the above video on metamorphosis. If you did not finish your concluding sentence on your organizer, be sure that is done before next week. :)

Week #2: March 31 - April 3

Summary and Instructions

This week we will continue working on our informational paragraph about the insect you chose. Be sure to have the graphic organizer we began in class and your green or blue folder with you before you watch the video. We will learn about transitional words and phrases, and talk about how to place your information on the page.

Homework

This week your homework is to add three transition words (or sentences) to your graphic organizer, and then write your final paragraph on the page provided in your folder. Be sure to use your neatest writing and have a parent help you with spelling.

Week #3 : April 6 - April 13

Summary and Instructions

This week we will begin our "Roll-A-Bug" project. Hopefully you finished your informational writing about the insect you chose and wrote your paragraph on the final page. If not, please finish that before watching this week's video. You will also need some dice as you watch the video, one die is enough.

Other Materials

This week during the video you will need dice. After that, to complete the homework this week, you will need scissors, construction paper (several different colors), crayons or colored pencils, and glue. Optional materials: pipe cleaners, google eyes, craft paper.

Homework

This week, your homework is to design and create your "Roll-a-Bug". Once you have finished, complete the Prewriting Graphic Organizer in your yellow folder.

Week #4 : April 13 - April 17

Summary and Instructions

This week we will continue our "Roll-A-Bug" project. We will be completing the graphic organizer on our new insect. Don't forget to send me a video of you reading your finished informative writing from a couple weeks ago.

This week, your homework is to complete the Prewriting Graphic Organizer in your yellow folder about your new bug. Also, if you haven't already sent me a video of you reading your finished informational writing we finished a couple weeks ago, please do so this week. That way, I can share it on the next video. Week #5 : April 20 - April 25

This week we will finish our "Roll-A-Bug" project by writing an informational paragraph based on the graphic organizer we completed last week.

Week #6 : April 27 - May 1

Summary and Instructions

This week we will celebrate INSECT DAY with a special recorded video. Please be sure to send a picture or recording of your child with their Roll-a-Bug telling us its name and their favorite thing about it. I need these as soon as possible. See email sent on 4/25 for more information.
